PR 101: How Public Relations Actually Works
PR can seem mysterious from the outside. Hire an agency. Have a kickoff call. Wait. Eventually, someone tells you they're pitching the media. But at its core, earned-media PR is understandable: learn the organization, find the story, develop the angle, find the right journalists, build the pitch, send it, follow up and earn coverage.
Step 1: Understand the Organization
Good PR starts with understanding what you're pitching. At a traditional agency, this can involve onboarding calls, questionnaires, research, messaging documents and internal meetings. Depending on the agency and client, getting from kickoff to initial outreach can take 7-10 days or longer.
TAIPR doesn't eliminate this step. We compress it. Our goal is to move from onboarding to potential media angles, relevant journalists and personalized outreach in under 10 minutes, depending on the user's inputs and workflow. That's not 10 minutes to media coverage. It's under 10 minutes to begin doing PR.
Step 2: Find the Story
A launch is not automatically the story. The story could be the founder, an industry trend, new data, customer behavior, a timely news connection, a mission or a surprising point of view. TAIPR starts by looking for angles.
Step 3: Choose the Angle
A media angle is the reason a journalist might care right now. TAIPR generates potential angles for the user to review, reject or pursue.
Step 4: Find the Right Journalist
More journalists does not automatically mean more opportunity. TAIPR is designed around targeting rather than blasting: identify people whose coverage makes sense for the particular story.
Step 5: Personalize the Pitch
TAIPR builds outreach around the combination of your organization, your angle and the individual journalist. The aim is relevant one-to-one communication rather than a mass campaign.
Step 6: Review and Send
AI shouldn't take control away from the person whose reputation is attached to the email. You review what TAIPR generates and decide what gets sent. AI does the heavy lifting; you make the call.
Step 7: The Journalist Decides
TAIPR doesn't buy coverage, guarantee coverage or decide what becomes news. Journalists do. That's earned media.
From 7-10 Days to Under 10 Minutes
A traditional workflow can involve days of kickoff, research, messaging, media research and pitch development. TAIPR connects the workflow: Onboard → Discover Angles → Find Journalists → Generate Personalized Pitches → Review → Send.
We're not trying to eliminate what makes PR good. We're trying to eliminate waiting, repetitive research and manual work that prevents more people from doing it.
